Every manager or leader wants to produce the best results as effectively and efficiently as possible. This often is challenging in today’s volatile and uncertain conditions, as well as the increasingly diverse settings in which many of us operate.
Doing so requires thoughtfully leveraging others’ perspectives and knowledge in intentional and productive deliberations that produce the best decisions. This is the work of facilitators and facilitation.
To help build your competence to facilitate better meetings and conversations — in the workplace, in your volunteer role(s), or even in your personal life — as well as be more facilitative in your coaching efforts, this session will enable you to:
• Explore core practices and principles of effective facilitation. • Examine relevant geographical and organizational culture and context considerations for effective facilitation of meetings or workshops. • Consider how to handle common group dynamics you likely will encounter. • Apply key takeaways to upcoming conversations or meetings you may facilitate.
You should leave feeling more capable and confident for your future facilitation efforts, as well as more knowledgeable about how to make facilitative contributions when participating in meetings or conversations.
A brief annotated list of additional tools, techniques, and resources will be provided.
