Workshop: Mentor Coaching: The Goal, The Gap, The Impact

This session is focused on three questions about mentor coaching: What is the goal? What is the gap? What is the impact? Mentor coaching brings the heart and head of coaching to life at the intersection of the coaches-in-training (heart) and the content (head).

What is the goal? Our goal is to ensure that mentor coaching is meaningful for the mentor coach, the mentee, and the coaching profession. As ICF Coaching Education leadership noted at ICF Imagine 2022, the board recognizes the need to address mentor coaching in 2023.

What is the gap? The gap is the disparity in understanding and implementing mentor coaching, mentor coach training in coaching education programs, and individual mentor coach and mentee coach interactions.

What is the impact? This approach has produced results:
• Coach-credential applicants have 100% pass rates on both their recorded coaching evaluated by ICF assessors and the Coach Knowledge Assessment.
• Full-time faculty are all trained mentor coaches through our model.
• The model is embedded in our coaching education program.
